Mrs. Margaret M. 'Peggy' (Dolan) Broderick, of Watertown, died peacefully on Tuesday July 23, 2019 in her home. She was 74.
Peggy was born in County Cavan, Ireland on March 4, 1945, the daughter of the late Philip and Elizabeth (Gallagher) Dolan. At the age of 19 she, along with her three sisters, made the move to the United States where she would meet a young Irishman named Martin 'Mattie' Broderick. The pair were married in St. Mary's Church in Dedham on May 10, 1969. They lived for a short time in the Auburndale neighborhood of Newton before finally settling in W. Newton where they would raise their family.
Peggy was creative by nature and enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening and in her younger years was known to re-create dresses she would see at the department store. She was an animal lover through and through and there was always at least one canine companion in the Broderick household. She was happiest when surrounded by family and she always looked forward to her family trips back to Ireland.
She is pre-deceased by her husband, Martin V. 'Mattie' Broderick who died on September 28, 2017 and is survived by her children, Lydia A. Broderick of Framingham, Michelle E. Broderick of Newton and Martin J. Broderick of Upton; her siblings, Patrick Dolan, Seamus Dolan, Anne Corr, Kathleen Lee and Lydia McGinnity all of Ireland and also leaves many nieces and nephews.
