Waltham – Mrs. Margaret L. (Clarke) Colwell of Waltham died Wednesday, July 6, 2011 in Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. She was 70.

Margaret was born in Boston on April 15, 1941, a daughter of the late Thomas and Alice (McSweeney) Clarke. She had lived in Dorchester before moving to Waltham twenty-six years ago. Margaret was a graduate of Our Lady of Perpetual Help High School in Mission Hill and until her retirement had worked as a home health aide.

The wife of the late Kenneth D. Colwell, she leaves her children, Kenneth T. Colwell of Lunenburg, Douglas S. Colwell of Plymouth, Thomas P. Colwell of Boston and Jennifer C. Colwell of Waltham; her grandchildren, Douglas J. Colwell, Daniel Colwell, Frank Colwell, Tracy Gaudet, Haley Gaudet, Erica Gaudet, Brooke Gaudet, and Marissa Del Carmen; her brothers, John Clarke of Worcester, Stephen Clarke of Watertown and James Clarke of Revere and many nieces and nephews.

She was also the mother of the late John F. Colwell and Tracy L. Colwell, and a sister of the late Joan Berardi and Thomas Clarke.

Family and friends will honor and remember Margaret’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, July 10th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 11 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
