Waltham – Mrs. Margaret M. 'Peg' (Leahy) Edmunds, of Waltham, died Thursday, February 5, 2015 at Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 96.
Peg was born in Haverhill on September 10, 1918, a daughter of the late David and Eleanor (Cotter) Leahy. She was raised in Dorchester and lived there before her marriage to Waltham native Edward H. 'Ned' Edmunds. The couple settled in Waltham where they raised their family of eight children.
She was a lifelong member of Saint Mary's Church where she belonged to the Mother's Club and the parish bowling league.
Her husband, Ned, died September 26, 1981.
Peg leaves her children, Mary Robichaud and her husband, Martin, of Melrose, Edward H. Edmunds, Jr. and his wife, Patience, of Tampa, Florida, Margaret 'Margie' Clifford and her husband, Paul, of Mashpee, Patricia DeNufrio and her husband, Daniel, of Wilmington, Carol Arutunian and her husband, Michael, of Lowell and James R. 'Jay' Edmunds and his wife, Deborah, of Wayland; her grandchildren, Jason Robichaud, Jill DeCota, Patricia Robichaud, William and Alex Edmunds, Joseph Arutunian and Ashley and James Edmunds; her great-grandchildren, Cailin and Braxton Robichaud; her brother and sister, William Leahy of Arlington and Esther McGurn of Melrose and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late William F. and Paul J. Edmunds and a sister of the late John, Edward and Joseph Leahy and Patricia Loveridge.
Family and friends will honor and remember Margaret's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, February 10th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
