Waltham – Mrs. Margaret A. (Scanlon) Halstead, of Waltham, died August 20, 2010 at Wingate of Needham. She was 95.
Margaret was born in Waltham on July 29, 1915, a daughter of the late John and Catherine (Skahill) Scanlon and had been a lifelong resident. She was an auxiliary member of the PFC John M. Sullivan, USMC VFW Post #10334 in Waltham, the North Waltham Senior Citizens and was a longtime parishioner and an active communicant at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church.
She was predeceased by her husband, Earl M. Halstead, who died on August 19, 2009.
Margaret leaves her children, James E. Halstead and his wife, Myra, of Framingham, Patricia A. Barlow of Arizona, Stephen J. Halstead and his wife, Maureen, of Marshfield and David Halstead and his wife, Tuyet, of Waltham; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
She was also a sister of the late Joseph Scanlon, John Scanlon, Agnes Madden and Mary Scanlon.
Family and friends will honor and remember Margaret’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
