Waltham – Mrs. Margaret C. "Peg" (FitzGerald) Lord, of Waltham, died Friday, February 24, 2017 at her home. She was 82.
Peg was born in Malden on August 3, 1934 to the late James P. and Violet M. (Carroll) FitzGerald. She was raised in Waltham and had been a lifelong resident. Peg was a graduate of Rosary Academy in Watertown.
After high school she worked for a time for the John Hancock Insurance Company and later at the Waltham High School cafeteria. Until her retirement she worked for a number of years as a waitress at the Chateau Restaurant in Waltham, a job she thoroughly enjoyed and the people that she worked with even more.
Peg was known by family and friends for her kindness and for being a devoted animal lover. She found peace and happiness in gardening and took great care of her home, her husband and her children.
The wife of the late William J. Lord, she leaves her children, Wm. Jeffrey Lord and Frederick C. Lord, of Waltham; her sisters, M. Donna LeClair of Mattapoisett and Jane C. Egan of Lakeville, and several nieces, nephews and their families.
Family and friends will honor and remember Peg's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, March 2nd from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
