Mrs. Margaret R. (Collins) Malone, of Watertown, died Thursday, April 5, 2018 in Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence in Wayland. She was 96.
Margaret was born February 10, 1922 in Newton a daughter of Irish immigrants Maurice J. and Sarah (McAllister) Collins. Raised and educated in Newton she was a graduate of Newton North High School. A member of the Navy WAVES she honorably served her country during World War II. She and her late husband, Paul Malone made Watertown their home for over 61 years.
Margaret worked as an administrative assistant at the former Coolidge Bank & Trust Company in Watertown.
Her faith was forefront throughout her life and as a member of Saint Jude Parish she belonged to its Ladies Sodality. In later years when health didn't afford her the opportunity to attend Mass at Saint Jude's she was a faithful communicant to Mass on Boston Cathlolic Television. She and Paul were active participants in various Knights of Columbus #3285, Msgr. Roy Figlino Brighton Council events and activities. She also enjoyed time with friends on the lanes at Sammy White's Brighton Bowl. Margaret was also a voracious reader and enjoyed crotchet and a game of cribbage.
In addition to her husband, Paul she is predeceased by a son-in-law, Michael Boucher and her siblings, Cecilia Collins, Francis Collins, Mary Grimes and Virginia Dolan.
She leaves her children, Paul G. Malone of Watertown, Kevin F. Malone and his wife, Lee of Walpole and Marianne C. Jones and her husband, John of Ventura, California; her grandsons, Gregory Malone and Zachary Boucher; nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Margaret's life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, April 9th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline.
