Waltham – Mrs. Margaret T. (Hinchey) McCusker, of Waltham, died Saturday, September 17, 2016 in Belmont Manor Nursing Home. She was 86.
Margaret was born in Waltham on October 5, 1929, a daughter of the late Leo J. and Margaret M. (O'Connor) Hinchey, and had been a lifelong resident.
She graduated from Saint Mary's High School in Waltham and from Emmanuel College in Boston where she earned a degree in biology and chemistry. Up until she became a full time mom she worked as an industrial chemist for Domino Sugar Company.
Margaret later went back to school and earned a nursing degree and worked for years as a registered nurse at Franciscan Children's Hospital in Brighton.
She was the beloved wife of the late John H. McCusker and is survived by her children, John H. McCusker of Durham, North Carolina, Ann McCusker of Tampa, Florida, Mary M. McCusker of Waltham, Claire E. McCusker and her husband, Jonathan Levy, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Joan M. Fontaine and her husband, Robert, of Merrimack, New Hampshire; her grandchildren, Emily Finch, Christine Fontaine, Isaac Levy and Abigail Levy and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Leo J. and James F. Hinchey.
Family and friends will honor and remember Margaret's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, September 21st from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School St., Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Committal services will follow in Calvary Cemetery Chapel, Waltham.
