Waltham – Mrs. Margaret E. (Sartoris) Murphy, of Waltham, died Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. She was 81.
Margaret was born and raised in Nova Scotia and came to the States in 1957. She and her late husband, James D. Murphy, settled in Waltham and became lifelong residents. She earned a nursing degree from Somerville Hospital School of Nursing and worked for many years at the Walter E. Fernald School in Waltham. After that Margaret continued her nursing career at Brookhaven in Lexington until her retirement five years ago.
She leaves her children, Donna L. Nemet and her husband, Ronald, of Lee New Hampshire, Deborah E. Rochatka, Daniel G. Murphy, and Dale T. Murphy all of Waltham; her sisters and brother, Vivian Anderson of Nova Scotia, Beatrice Stewart of Winter Haven Florida, Laura James of Burlington, Kenneth Sartoris of Nova Scotia; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was a daughter of the late Percy and Laura (Henderson) Sartoris and a sister of the late Mary Davidson, Johnny, Gordon, Wylie, Carson, Lloyd, and Lawson Sartoris.
Family and friends will honor and remember Margaret's life by gathering for calling hours on Monday, August 31st from 4 to 7 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham where her funeral service will be held at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will also take place in her native New Glasgow, Nova Scotia and burial will be in McLellan's Mountain Cemetery, Thorburn, Nova Scotia.
