Waltham - Mrs. Margaret M. (Hester) O’Malley, of Waltham, died on Friday, January 28th in Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton. She was 93.
Margaret was born in Clinton on May 26, 1917, a daughter of the late Patrick Hester of Lewisburg, Ireland and Margaret (Tierney) Hester of Clinton.
She was the wife of the late Attorney Henry J. O’Malley who died on November 2, 1997. They were married 40 years. Margaret was a graduate of Clinton High School and Becker Business College in Worcester. She went to work at the Clinton Trust Company after graduation and worked there until she married and moved to Waltham. After her children were in sixth and seventh grades she returned to the workforce. She retired after her husband died, and when she was 80, after having worked at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Waltham for 18 years.
Margaret leaves her sons, Patrick M. O’Malley of Medford and James H. O’Malley of Waltham; her sister, Katherine Thompson, of Clinton and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph Hester, of Holden.
Family and friends will honor and remember Margaret’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Thursday, February 3rd, from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m.
Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster on Monday, February 7th, at the convenience of the family.
