Waltham – Mrs. Margaret D. ‘Peggy’ (Doucette) Stanton, of Somerville, formerly of Waltham, died peacefully on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at the Little Sisters of the Poor in Somerville. She was 85. Her beloved husband, Francis X. Stanton, was at her side.
Margaret was born in Waltham on April 6, 1926, a daughter of the late Albert C. and Marie J. (Doucet) Doucette and was a graduate of Waltham High School, Class of 1944. She entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Cross and Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ and worked for twenty years in the retreat field in Rhode Island and in Connecticut. Margaret and Francis were married in 1974 and were also residents of the ‘Mill’ in Waltham before moving to the Little Sisters of the Poor Jeanne Jugan Residence, Somerville in 2008. Until her retirement, she had also worked as a clerk/typist for twenty years for the Department of the Air Force at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford.
She was also the sister-in-law of the late Ruth and Marjorie Doucette.
In addition to her husband, she was the cherished sister of Paul A. Doucette of Natick, and Richard Doucette and his wife, Florence, of Brockton; the loving aunt of Carolyn McArthur and her husband, John, of Hampstead, New Hampshire, Paul Doucette, Jr. of Southborough, John Doucette and his wife, Larisa, of Natick, Ruth Ann Wong and her husband, Eugene, of Bristol, Connecticut, Mark A. Doucette and his wife, Diana, of Canton, and Suzanne Doucette of Nussloc, Germany; her sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Tom Sheridan of Burlington. She also leaves one great-niece and two great-nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Margaret’s life by gathering for visitation at the Little Sisters of the Poor, 186 Highland Avenue, Somerville on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by her Funeral Mass which will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury.
