Margarita 'Garin' Torres

Waltham - Mrs. Margarita "Garin" Torres, of Waltham, died Monday, February 19, 2007 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital, after an illness. She was 72. She was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, a daughter to the late Ramon and Felicita (Matos) Torres, and moved to the United States in 1983. Margarita worked at Omni Spectra Corporation for many years, retiring in 1988. Previously, she had worked at Regis College in Weston. She leaves her husband, Juan Rivera of Orocovis, Puerto Rico; a son, Omar Rivera and his girlfriend, Marisol Alejandro of Waltham, who lovingly cared for her during her illness; a grandson, Omar Rivera II of Waltham; three sisters, Petra Torres of Waltham, Antonia Labrador and Julia Ortiz, both of Puerto Rico; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Friday at 9 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Mass in Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
