Belmont – Ms. Maria (Anderson) Osserman died Wednesday, December 26, 2018 in Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 88.
Maria was born May 11, 1930 in Berlin, Germany a daughter of the late Ernest G. and Elizabeth (Wolff) Anderson. She immigrated to the United States at age eleven settling in New York before moving to Belmont. A graduate of Belmont High School she then earned her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Art History from Harvard University.
She worked as a tutor in the Belmont Public Schools for over 10 years helping students learn reading. Maria had a lifelong passion for the arts. Always eager to learn she took up piano lessons and was fluent in three languages, English, German and French. As member of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston she enjoyed travelling and visiting various museums where her travels would take her. An avid reader she also had a love for poetry. She remained active each day and enjoyed taking long walks. Maria was also a volunteer in area nursing homes. She attended The Parish of the Epiphany (Episcopal) in Winchester.
She leaves her son, Paul M. Osserman (Robin Snyder) of Gardnerville, NV and longtime friends Sueli Oliviera of Waltham and Margo Hunter of Belmont.
Funeral services are private.
