Waltham – Miss Marie "Therese" Aucoin, of Waltham, died Wednesday, November 30, 2016 in the Sancta Maria Nursing Center in Cambridge. She was 91.
Therese was born in Waltham on November 2, 1925, a daughter of the late Thomas and Regina (Vienneau) Aucoin.
She graduated from Saint Mary's High School in Waltham in 1943 and later earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Emmanuel College and her Masters in French at Assumption College. For twenty-five years she was a religious sister of Notre Dame de Namur and then became a French teacher at Waltham High School for over seventeen years until her retirement in 1988.
Never one to sit idly she then became the librarian at St. Jude's Elementary School in Waltham. She was formerly very active in the Women's Guild at Saint Joseph's Church and had volunteered for many years for the Waltham Meals on Wheels program.
She is survived by her sister, Marie P. O'Brien of Waltham and many nieces and nephews.
Therese was also the sister of the late Thomas P. Aucoin, Edmond F. Aucoin, Joseph B. Aucoin, Br. Bernadine Aucoin, F.S.C., Evelyn Belliveau, Helen Williamson, Corrine Breton, Irene Murphy, Lorraine Aucoin, and Jeanne Hache.
Family and friends will honor and remember Therese's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Thursday, December 8th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
