Marie L. Bannan

Bourne – Mrs. Marie L. (Lanagan) Bannan, of Gray Gables, died Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at South Shore Hospital, Weymouth. She was 79. She was the wife of the late William J. Bannan, Jr. who died in August, 2005. Born and raised in Newton, a daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Cahill) Lanagan, Marie was a graduate of Newton High School. She also graduated from Regis College in Weston where she had been active for many years with alumni affairs. Marie lived in Waltham for fifty-four years before she and her husband moved to their summer home in Gray Gables in 2003. She had been a volunteer for many years at Waltham Hospital and had belonged to Saint Mary’s Mother’s Club, the Piety Corner Club and the Massachusetts Bay and Wes-Wal Investment Clubs, all in Waltham. She leaves her children, William J. Bannan, III of Bourne, Kathleen M. Magee of Princeton, Elizabeth M. Gallagher of Norwell, Kevin A. Bannan of Hingham and seven grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Regis College, 235 Wellesley Street, Weston, MA 02493.
