Mrs. Marie M. (Pineau) Champagne of Waltham died Tuesday February 2, 2010 at Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge. She was 88. Marie was born on January 7, 1922 in Fisherville, Mass, a daughter of the late Henry and Mae (Gallant) Pineau and she was a homemaker and had lived in Waltham for the past seventy five years. In her spare time Marie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bingo, reading, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and going to Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island. She was also well known for making blankets and baby sets for Saint Francis Children's Hospital in Brighton. Marie was the wife of the late Gerald C. Champagne and leaves her children, Judy M. Ritcey, Donna M. Casey and her husband, James, and Jerry C. Champagne, Jr., all of Waltham; two sisters, Lillian Cormier of Maryville, Tennessee, and Joan Gagnon of Hollywood, Florida; her grandchildren, Stephanie Boudreau and her husband, Roger, and James Casey, Jr., her great-grandchildren, Jonathan Casey, Benjamin Boudreau, Samantha Boudreau and many nieces and nephews. Marie was also the sister of the late William Pineau, Ernest Pineau, and Judith Champagne. Family and friends will honor and remember Marie's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
