Hingham Mrs. Marie 'Sarah' (Richard) Leger, of Waltham, died Sunday, January 17, 2010 in her granddaughter's home in Hingham. She was 95. Sarah was born on November 21, 1914 in Notre Dame, New Brunswick, a daughter of the late Amedee and Marie Blanche (Hebert) Richard, and had lived in Newton for many years before moving to Waltham in 1975. She worked as a seamstress for many years. Sarah will long be remembered as a warm and caring wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her heart and home were always open to those who needed her. Sometimes it was for a hug and a loving conversation or sometimes it was a long awaited rest for visitors from Canada. In her spare time she would enjoy traveling to Canada to visit with family, sewing, knitting, crafting, reading and she loved to listen to and play music. She leaves her children, Anne Marie Sharpe and her husband, Allen, of Marshfield and Richard Leger and his wife, Mary Bell, of Georgia; her brother, Gerald Richard of Dieppe, NB; her grandchildren, Jennifer Gacicia and her husband, Gary, Jamie Boudreau and his wife, Stephanie, Sara Jane Leger and Harrison Leger and many nieces and nephews. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Gerard H. Leger, and her brothers and sisters, Joseph Richard, Pierre Richard, Emma Richard, Florida Saulnier, Emelia Cormier, and Mary Leger. Family and friends will honor and remember Sarah's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Couch Cemetery, Marshfield.
