Marie B. (Kelly) Lyons

Waltham – Mrs. Marie B. (Kelly) Lyons, of Waltham, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Meadow Green Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Waltham. She was 79.

Marie was born in Glinsk, County Galway, Ireland on December 10, 1935, a daughter of the late Patrick and Mary (Mulligan) Kelly. She immigrated to the United States in 1955 and settled first in Dorchester before moving to Brighton where she and her family lived for twenty-five years before moving to Waltham twenty-five years ago.

Until her retirement Marie worked for the Archdiocese of Boston as a receptionist at Saint John's Seminary in Brighton.

She leaves her husband of fifty years, James Lyons; her children, Joseph A. Lyons and his wife, Teresa, of Bellingham, Kevin J. Lyons of Waltham and Robert F. Lyons and his wife, Julie, of West Roxbury; her grandchildren, Erin, Patrick, Sean, Kelly and Timothy Lyons; her brother and sisters, James Kelly of Co. Galway, Mary "Mae" Riordan of Braintree and Catherine Kelly of Co. Galway and many nieces and nephews.

Marie was also a sister of the late Margaret Kelly.

Family and friends will honor and remember Marie's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, June 12th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
