Mrs. Marie Louise Lys of Waltham, died Tuesday February 8, 2011 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 87.
Marie was born in Haiti on September 19, 1923 a daughter of the late Solon and Josephine ( Roman) Lys and had lived in Waltham since 1984. Marie had worked for many years as a housekeeper at the Lee Rest Home in Waltham.
Before Marie left her native Haiti, she was a very talented hairdresser, chef and enjoyed being a seamstress specializing in baby clothing.
She leaves her children, Jean, Gerald, Mauna, and Immacula Lys all of Waltham, her brother, St. Felix Lys of Haiti, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Marie’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Friday February 18, from 6 – 9 p.m. and again on Saturday morning from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Morijah Evangelical Church, 21 Bruce Road, Waltham followed by her Funeral Service that will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
