Marie L. (Rodrigues) Medeiros

Waltham – Mrs. Marie L. (Rodrigues) Medeiros, of Waltham, died Sunday, November 15, 2015 in her home. She was 92.

Marie was born in Cambridge on July 15, 1923, a daughter of the late Luiz and Maria (Medina) Rodrigues, and was a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin. She had lived in Waltham for over fifty years.

Until her retirement Marie worked in the billing department at Waltham Hospital and before that worked for a number of years as a supervisor at Sears Roebuck & Company in Boston.

She and her husband Bob were longtime parishioners at Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church in Waltham where she volunteered in the parish rectory. Marie enjoyed knitting, crocheting, oil painting, and playing the organ. She also loved animals.

In addition to her husband of fifty-one years, Robert Medeiros, she leaves her nieces and nephews, Jack Rodrigues of Burbank, California, Gerard Rodrigues of Mandeville, Louisiana, Louis Rodrigues of Fairhaven, Kenneth Rodrigues of Hopkinton, Marie Elena Foley of Franklin, James Rodrigues of Ft. Myers, Florida and Paula O'Leary of Reading; her cousin, Edith Duarte, and many grandnieces, grandnephews, and their families.

She was also the sister of the late John and Louis Rodrigues.

Family and friends will honor and remember Marie's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, November 19th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
