Marie P. (Aucoin) O'Brien

Marie P. (Aucoin) O’Brien, of Waltham, died Friday, March 21, 2025 at Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 93.

Marie was born in Waltham on April 11, 1931, a daughter of the late Thomas and Regina (Vienneau) Aucoin, and had been a lifelong resident. She was a 1949 graduate of Saint Mary’s High School.

Until her retirement, Marie worked as a secretary for the City of Waltham water department.

Marie spent many happy summers in South Yarmouth and looked forward to visits to Boca Raton, Florida to escape the winter cold.

The wife of the late Joseph J. O’Brien, she leaves her children, Janice M. Campbell (late Elmer) of Dayton, Ohio, Joseph R. O’Brien (Catherine) of Westwood, Robert W. O’Brien (Theresa) of Mashpee, John T. “Jack” O’Brien (Catherine) of Waltham, Barbara J. O’Brien (Frank Bridges) of Northport, Maine and William A. O’Brien of New York City; her grandchildren, Joseph and James O’Brien (Micah), Shealagh Duca (Tom), Joseph Bridges and Janine Ftizgibbon (TJ); seven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and their families.

Marie was also the mother of the late Lauren A. O’Brien and a sister of the late Eveline Belliveau, Helene Williamson, Corinne Breton, Irene Murphy, Thomas, Edmond, Joseph, Robert, Lorraine and Therese Aucoin and Jeanne Hache.

Family and friends will honor and remember Marie’s life by gathering for an Evening Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, March 30th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Monday morning when her Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Following cremation, burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
