Marie Claire (Cazeau) Parent

Marie Claire (Cazeau) Parent of Waltham, passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on Monday, October 14, 2024, at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.

Born on June 5, 1964, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Marie was the daughter of the late Rev. Heraux Vincent and Marthe Delcamise (Beaubrun) Cazeau. She was raised and educated in Haiti before immigrating to the United States in 1982, where she settled in Brooklyn. After dating for 11 years, she married Ernest Parent in Haiti on August 18, 1987. While living in Brooklyn, she worked as a nanny for various families. In June 1988, Marie moved to Massachusetts, where she then settled in Waltham.

Marie worked as a certified nursing assistant at Oakwood Nursing Home in Brighton, Marist Hill Nursing Home in Waltham, and Sunrise of Weston until her retirement in 2020. 

She will be remembered as a genuinely loving and caring woman who worked tirelessly to support her family and friends in the U.S. and her native country, Haiti. Marie was passionate about collecting figurines and enjoyed watching the birds in her yard.

Marie is survived by her husband, Ernest; her daughters, Jennifer Parent, and Stephanie Parent, both of Waltham; her brothers, Stephen and St. Jean Cazeau (Falide), both of Georgia; and many nieces and nephews, including Jonathan, Gino, and Falisha Cazeau and her Cazeau, Beaubrun and Parent cousins.

Family and friends will honor and remember Marie's life with a morning wake on Saturday, October 26, at the Waltham Haitian Church of the Nazarene, located at 1450 Trapelo Road, Waltham, from 8:30 to 10 a.m., followed by her funeral service at 10 a.m., officiated by Rev. Rosemond Antoine. Burial will take place at Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham.
