Worcester – Miss Marilyn A. Barnes, of Worcester, died Sunday, October 7, 2012 in Saint Vincent's Hospital in Worcester. She was 62.
Marilyn was born in Cambridge on November 25, 1949, a daughter of Frank A. Barnes of Beckley, West Virginia and the late Beatrice E. (Ahlgren) Barnes.
Marilyn was a graduate of Christian High School in Lexington and Middlesex Community College. She had lived in Weston before moving to Worcester in the early 1980's and worked as a secretary at Draper Labs in Cambridge. She was a lifelong advocate for those with disabilities and also devoted her time to helping various Christian ministries.
In addition to her father she leaves step-mother, Emma Jean Hebb-Barnes of Beckley, West Virginia; her sister, Laurel S. Cecere of Chelmsford; her nephew, David B. Cecere and his wife, Julie, of Weston; her niece, Amanda S. Cecere of Chelmsford; and her grand-nephew, Jonathan Cecere.
Marilyn was the sister-in-law of the late Bruce Cecere and the aunt of the late Daniel F. Cecere.
Family and friends will honor and remember Marilyn's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, October 12th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning when her funeral service will be held. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
