Marilyn E. (Shea) Loftus

Watertown, MA

Mrs. Marilyn E. (Shea) Loftus, of Chelmsford, formerly of Waltham, died Sunday, January 14, 2024 in Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Chelmsford. She was 93.

Marilyn was born March 20, 1930 in Brighton a daughter of the late Michael and Etta (Phillips) Shea. Raised in Waltham she was a graduate of Waltham High School.
 
 Marilyn worked as a switchboard operator at the former Somerville Hospital for many years and had previously worked at the Waltham Watch Factory and Sancta Maria Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility.

She had a sweet tooth and desserts where a staple in her life. Not only did she enjoy a dessert she was a fabulous baker and always had something good to eat for family and friends. Marilyn always looked forward to her annual trips to Plymouth with a close circle of girlfriends.
 
 Marilyn was predeceased by her sons, Dr. David J. Newell M.D; her husband, John J. Loftus; her brother, George Shea (late Irene) and her former husband, Frederick J. Newell. 

She leaves her children, Cynthia J. Duggan of Chelmsford and Scott F. Newell of Cherry Valley, California; her grandchildren, Kristina Gulati (Rob), Michael Duggan, Katie Martin (Jeff) and Kelly Duggan; her three great-grandchildren, Cole, Henry and Aeron; her son-in-law, Paul Duggan of Charlestown. and several nieces & nephews and their families.
 
 Funeral services and burial in Saint Patrick’s Cemetery in Watertown will be private.
