Marilyn E. (Russell) Murrin

Mrs. Marilyn E. (Russell) Murrin, of Lexington, formerly of Poughquag, New York died Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in Lahey Clinic in Burlington. She was 89. 



Born on October 1, 1928 in Mount Kisco, New York, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Fischer) Russell. Raised and educated in New York, she lived most of her life there until she moved to Massachusetts in 2005. She married and raised 5 children. 



During World War II she participated in the war effort. She later worked as an L.P.N. until retiring.



Marilyn was an avid reader with a keen interest in history, politics and historical novels. She took an active role in the lives of her family. She was a gentle, caring and loving woman that always had a smile on her face; she was an interesting and fun lady who hosted themed holiday events, was a talented cook and had a love for tea parties. Her interests included watching westerns, crafting, gardening, drawing, knitting and taking long drives in the car. She was an active member of Saint Martin De Porres Church in Poughkeepsie where she served as lector, assistant in the library and CCD teacher.

She is predeceased by her spouses and her sister Gloria as well as her beloved son, Michael. She is survived by sisters, Barbara and Patricia, many nieces and nephews, and grand-nephews and grand-nieces.

She is also survived by her loving children and their spouses: Charles, Bruce and Diane, Matthew III and Suanne and Dorothea and Richard. Additionally, Marilyn is survived by her grandchildren: Kimberly, Karen, Katrina, James, John, Natalie, Michele, Matthew IV, Joshua and Ashley. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Rosemary, Michael, Stephanie, Elizabeth, Caroline, Anna Catherine, Katessa, Michael, Marcus, Trey, Tess, Jordan, Madison, Samuel, Colden, Zachary and Matthew V.

Family and friends will honor and remember Marilyn's life by gathering on Saturday, May 12th in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham for a Funeral Mass celebrated at 11 a.m. Guests are invited to celebrate her life by wearing a pink accessory to honor her signature color. Burial is private. There are no calling hours.
