Watertown – Mrs. Marilyn F. (Sampson) Powell, of Watertown, died Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. She was 68.
Marilyn was born in Waltham on March 18, 1947, a daughter of the late Francis and Dorothy (McAvoy) Sampson, and was a graduate of Waltham High School. She moved to Watertown more than twenty years ago and worked as a driver for JSC Transportation.
A talented cook and homemaker, she kept a garden patch at the Waltham Field Station where she delighted in being able to nurture her plants and flowers.
Marilyn leaves her husband, Edwin C. Powell; her children, Brian E. Powell and his wife, Laura, of Marlborough, Matthew E. Powell of Boston, Sandra Faulkenberry and her husband, Glenn, of Billerica, Cheryl Morgan and her husband, Tim, of South Carolina, Edwin C. Powell, Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri and Stephen Guerra of San Diego, California and her grandchildren, Carley Faulkenberry and Lindsay Morgan.
She was also a sister of the late Lorraine Sampson and Mary Ann Seale.
Family and friends will honor and remember Marilyn's life by gathering in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham on Monday morning, March 23rd where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
