Waltham – Mrs. Marilyn C. (Ryan) Stanton, of Waltham, died Sunday, August 7, 2016 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. She was 90.
Marilyn was born in Waltham on April 20, 1926, a daughter of the late John and Ida (Berrigan) Ryan, and had been a lifelong resident. She was a 1944 graduate of Waltham High School.
After her kids were in school she took a job in the loan department at Waltham Savings Bank where she worked for over twenty years and where she made many lasting friendships with co-workers and customers.
She was a lifelong parishioner at Saint Luke's Church in Belmont where she had been a member of the Ladies Sodality. Marilyn enjoyed all things Irish, especially attending Irish dancing events, and she took meticulous care of the gardens around her home.
The wife of the late Francis X. Stanton she leaves her children, Margaret A. Orlando and her husband, Robert, of Chelmsford, Francis X. Stanton, Jr. and his wife, Darlene, of Waltham, Janice M. Fish and her husband, Allan, of Harwich and Paul J. Stanton of Waltham, her sisters, Margaret Bodio of New Hampshire and Alice Mitchell of Natick; her dear friend, Thomas Early of Dorchester; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was also the mother of the late Michael J. Stanton; mother-in-law of the late Lesley Stanton and a sister of the late John Ryan.
Family and friends will honor and remember Marilyn's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, August 10th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Luke's Church, 132 Lexington Street, Belmont where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown.
