Marion E. Besso

Mrs. Marion E. (Townsend) Besso, Of Waltham, died on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 in the Sawtelle Family Hospice House. She was 79.

Born on November 25, 1937 in Waltham she was a daughter of the late Victor and Anna (Cusack) Townsend. She was a graduate of Waltham High School.

Marion's life was always centered on her family. She loved dancing with her husband, festivals, trips to the beach and sitting by the pool in summer months. Arts and crafts with her grandchildren, a shopping excursion, completing a crossword puzzle are all things she treasured.

She is predeceased by her children, Richard T. Besso Jr. and Bonnie J. Corcoran and her late husband, Peter; her grandchildren, Christopher Maher and Janine Barter; her siblings, Normand Townsend and Victoria Rigoli.

She leaves her husband of 60 years, Richard T. Besso; her children, Karen M. Maher of Maynard, Barbara A. Belliveau of Ware and Kathleen M. Bernat and her husband, Michael of Springvale, Maine; her grandchildren, Stacia Korbel, Michelle Coyle, Candice Maher, Joshua Besso, Erin Corcoran, Christopher and James Barter, Shannon Holmes, Kathleen Belliveau, John-Paul Bernat and Katelynn Bernat; her great-grandchildren, Michael, Ashley, Matthew, Amber, Christopher, Jerel, Kaia, Alex, Raven and Emma; also survived by many nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Marion's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday May 8th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
