Marjorie A. Barter

Mrs. Marjorie A. (Short) Barter of Waltham died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 in the Beaumont Nursing Center in Northborough. She was 92. Marjorie was born on April 14, 1917 in Waltham, a daughter of the late Albert E. and Effie A. (Brigham) Short. She was a graduate of Waltham High School and a programmer at the Raytheon Company for thirty five years, until her retirement in 1987. Marjorie was the wife of the late Arthur H. Barter, the mother of the late Richard A. Barter, and the sister of the late Thomas Short, Eleanor Ahlman, Virginia Freeman, and Marion Jones. She is survived by her children, Arthur P. Barter and his wife, Cynthia, of Dallas, TX, Beverly J. Rainville and her husband, Norman, of Berlin, Robert Barter and his companion, Sue Sprague, of Freetown, IN, and Alan Barter and his wife, Joyce, of Middleton; her daughter in law, Gerrie L. Barter of Waltham; her brother, Robert Short of Waltham; seventeen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Leland Home, 21 Newton Street, Waltham, MA 02453.
