Mrs. Marjorie T. (Dean) MacDonald, of Waltham, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side, on Sunday, May 19, 2024. She was 74.
Born in Quincy, on October 29, 1949, Marjorie was the daughter of the late Robert and Helen (Travers) Dean. She grew up in Stoughton graduating from Stoughton High School. On June 10, 1972, she married the love of her life, Waltham Firefighter Billy MacDonald.
Following her high school years, Marjorie devoted much of her time caring for her parents. After their passing, she pursued her passion for nursing by obtaining a nursing degree. She started her career in geriatric nursing at Newton Wellesley Hospital and finished her professional journey at Brightview in Billerica before retiring in December. Her compassionate nature and dedication endeared her to the elderly patients she cared for.
Marjorie had the best personality, with a great sense of humor and the perfect blend of nurturing kindness and unwavering strength when advocating for herself and others. These qualities not only defined her as an exceptional nurse but also as an exemplary mother and Mimi to her beloved grandchildren. Her grandchildren meant the world to her, and she looked forward to every opportunity to spend time with them. Margie was also quite the dancer, whether it was at a wedding or listening to her albums in the living room, it was almost impossible to keep her in her seat when the music was playing.
In addition to her husband, William R. 'Billy' MacDonald, she leaves her children, Sheri Jamgochian (Bobby) of Methuen, Waltham firefighter William MacDonald (Jill) of Framingham, and Nicole Willoughby (Jeremie) of Framingham; her grandchildren Travers MacDonald, Billy MacDonald II, Brooke MacDonald, Kailei Willoughby, and Alanni Willoughby; her sisters, Sandra Steinberg, Barbara Angelos, Doris Horton, Robin Nardozzi, Mary Helen Thompson, Deborah Chadwick, and Teresa Dean along with many nieces and nephews.
Marjorie is reunited in heaven with her daughter, Christie Leigh MacDonald, and her brothers Bobby and Jimmy Dean.
Family and friends will honor and remember Marjorie's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, May 22nd from 4 to 7 pm. and again at 11 a.m. on Thursday morning when her funeral service will be held. Burial will be private.
