Mark K. Waldron, of Waltham, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He was 62.
Born in Waltham on November 1, 1961, Mark was the son of the late Robert and Muriel (Kelly) Waldron. He was born and raised in Waltham and a graduate of Waltham High School, where he excelled as a hockey player, a passion he carried with him throughout his life as a loyal Bruins fan.
Mark started his career as a first responder working for Armstrong as an EMT. He continued his education, earning his associate degree, allowing him to also earn his certification as a paramedic and enter the fire academy. His dedication to serving others led him to the Holbrook Fire Department where he found fulfillment as a firefighter and instructor at the fire academy.
After retiring from the Fire Service, he continued working as a first responder in many capacities. Mark was a paramedic in the emergency departments at Southshore Hospital and Boston Medical Center, along with Fallon Ambulance, and most recently he worked transporting organs at NORA (Nationwide Organ Recovery Transport Alliance).
Mark was also an active member and volunteer at Westgate Church in Weston, where he found great peace, solace, and sense of community.
In his free time, Mark enjoyed bowling at the WAL-LEX, winning many trophies over the years. He was also an avid reader and World War II history buff. However, his greatest passion and source of pride were his children. Whether it was one of their big sporting events growing up or sitting down to a relaxing game of Gin-Rummy, he never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. He also loved traveling to Maryland to go to the Maryland renaissance festival with his son, where they would enjoy watching the spectacles and listening to live Celtic bands. Mark’s quiet sense of humor, caring nature, and unwavering dedication to serving others will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mark leaves his children Robert Waldron of Towson, Maryland, and Courtney Waldron (Alexander Silvio) of Danvers; his brother, Eric Waldron of Bartlett, New Hampshire; his former wife, Suzanne Waldron of Framingham, along with his nephews and their families.
Mark was also the brother of the late Virginia Waldron.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mark by gathering in Westgate Church, 100 Winter St., Weston, on March 11, 2024, where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Forest Glen Cemetery, Reading.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mark's name may be made to The National Kidney Foundation at: kidney.org.
