Waltham – Miss Martha Barry, of Waltham, died Friday, March 4, 2011 at the Leland Home in Waltham. She was 81.
Martha was born in Waltham on November 26, 1929, a daughter of the late John and Catherine (Pratt) Barry, and had been a lifelong resident and parishioner at Saint Mary’s Church in Waltham. She was a 1948 graduate of Waltham High School and two years later began a forty year career working for the Raytheon Corporation in Waltham. Martha was also the longtime recording secretary for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 1505.
She leaves her brother, Edward Barry of Leominster, twenty-four nieces and nephews and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Martha was also a sister of the late Helena F. Barry, Daniel Barry, Dennis Barry, George Barry, Barbara Herlihy, and Jane Fraize.
Family and friends will honor and remember Martha’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Tuesday, March 8th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
