Martha Pauline Veckery

Waltham – Mrs. Martha Pauline (Jackson) Veckery, of Waltham, died Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Maristhill Nursing Home, Waltham. Born in Hornell, New York, a daughter of the late Edward Q. and Mabel A. (Chart) Jackson, Martha lived in New York for many years before moving to Waltham in 1961. Martha was a Registered Nurse for many years in Ithaca, New York primarily in the lung and thoracic departments at area hospitals. She also worked in Coatesville, Pennsylvania in the Veterans Administration Hospital. Martha served with the United States Army during World War II. Martha was the sister of the late Duane E. Jackson. She leaves one brother, Harold L. ‘Harry’ Jackson of Tirone, New York; one niece, Sharry McLean of Addison, New York; two nephews, Gary Jackson of North Carolina and Robert Jackson of New York; and her longtime friend and caretaker, Anne E. Carlevale of Lexington. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday at 11 a.m. in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham. Burial will take place in Addison Rural Cemetery, Addison New York. Visitation will be held prior to the Funeral Mass Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham.
