Waltham – Mr. Martin J. Coleman, III of Waltham, died Saturday, September 27, 2014 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He was 68.
Marty was born in Brighton on July 4, 1946, a son of the late Martin J., Jr. and Joan C. (Kerwin) Coleman, and had been a lifelong resident of Waltham. He graduated from Saint Mary's High School in Waltham and had attended Bentley College.
Involved in the family business from an early age Marty had been a real estate broker all his life with Coleman and Sons on Main Street. In addition to belonging to area professional real estate associations he had been a past president of the Waltham Chapter of the American Cancer Society and a corporator at the former Waltham Hospital.
The consummate salesman, Marty touched the lives of many in Waltham and beyond, and worked until the very end of his life.
He leaves his wife, Pamela (Baker) Coleman; his children, Michael J. Coleman and his wife, Dr. Sheila Cooper, Martin J. Coleman IV, and Christine M. Coleman; his sisters and brother, Jeanie C. May and her husband, Richard MacLean, Judy C. Johnson and her husband, Charles, and Robert M. Coleman and his wife, Janet; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Marty was also a brother of the late Nancy J. Coleman.
Family and friends will honor and remember Martin's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, October 2nd from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
