Mission Viejo, Calif. – Mr. Marvin W. Gidney, of Mission Viejo, died Thursday, March 26, 2015 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was 51.
Marvin was born on October 23, 1963 in Portsmouth, Virginia and was raised and educated in West Dallas, Texas. He served with the United States Marine Corps for fifteen years before going to work for Pro Source of Irvine, California. Most recently Marvin was working with Pro-Dex, a medical engineering firm, also in Irvine.
He leaves his children, Matthew W. Gidney and his wife, Johanna Ortiz-Gidney, of Waltham and Patrick J. Gidney of Oceanside, California; his granddaughter, Lana Gidney; his fiancée, Cassie Hull of Mission Viejo and her children, Shawnee Matson and her son, Ryder, Zackery Matta, Zoie Borjon, Macie Borjon and Emilyn Gibson; his parents, Marvin W., Sr. and Georgina (Pratt) Gidney of Ogdensburg, New York; his brothers and sisters, Claude Wayne Gidney, Steve Gidney and Candy Budd, all of Ogdensburg, New York and Eleanor Shannon of Hammond, New York and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Marvin's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, April 6th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
