Waltham – Mrs. Mary L. (Thompson) Bourgeois, of Waltham, died Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Leland Home in Waltham. She was 84.
Mary was born in Waltham on August 24, 1930, a daughter of the late Thomas and Marguerite (O'Brien) Thompson, and had been a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Saint Charles High School in Waltham.
She was trained as a nurse but stayed at home to care for her husband and family of eight children. Mary had been a longtime volunteer and active member of the community at the Espousal Center in Waltham.
The wife of the late Henry P. Bourgeois, she leaves her children, Henry T. 'Tom' Bourgeois of Alabama, Wayne E. Bourgeois of Tewsksbury, Michael Bourgeois of Danvers, Glenna M. Gelineau of Waltham, Kimberley P. Blanc of Westford, Joseph C. 'Jay' Bourgeois of Maynard, Jill E. Shanley of Waltham and Charles D. 'Chuck' Bourgeois of Wilmington; her sisters, Joan Munroe of Sandwich and Sally McIntyre of Newton and nineteen grandchildren.
Mary was also a sister of the late Grace Mearls, Florence McGuire, Paul Thompson, Claire Mearls and Gertrude Hayes.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mary's life by gathering to visit at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning, October 7th, in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
There will be no calling hours.
