Hyannis – Mrs. Mary V. (Mulcahy) Brophy of Hyannis died Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Cape Cod Hospital. She was 89. Mrs. Brophy was born in Boston on March 7, 1927, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Winifred (Fitzgerald) Mulcahy.
Mary was a long time resident of Waltham before retiring to Cape Cod seven years ago.
She was the wife of the late Waltham Fire Captain Martin J. Brophy and the sister of the late Paul Mulcahy and Winifred Kilday.
Mary leaves her children, Martin Brophy of Ft. Collins CO, Mary Weinsoff and her husband, Edward, and Paula Brophy and her husband, David Fitzsimons, all of Osterville, Anne Nastasi and her husband, David, of Centerville, Sheila Nardone and her husband, Kenneth, of Watertown, and Karyn Metois of Marstons Mills.
Mary was also the grandmother of thirteen and the great grandmother of three. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mary's life by gathering for calling hours on Thursday, March 2nd, from 4 to 8 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham and again on Friday at 8 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
