Upton— Mrs. Mary C. “Maureen” (Cremins) Quinn, of Upton, died Wednesday, April 5, 2023 in Whitney Place at Westborough. She was 89.
Maureen was born in Brighton on June 24, 1933, a daughter of the late Jeremiah and Nora (Cavanaugh) Cremins. Raised in Brighton, she was a graduate of Saint Columbkille’s High School. She attended Boston College where she met Thomas R. Quinn.
The pair married in Maureen’s home parish of Saint Columbkille’s and settled in Brighton for a time before making Waltham their home in 1965. She had worked as a secretary at Barry Wright Corporation in Watertown and at Barnstable Municipal Fire Insurance Company in Yarmouth after she and Tom moved to Dennis in 1990.
Retirement afforded Maureen the ability to travel to places near and far, including to her parents’ native Ireland. She loved taking in the sights of new places and delighted in the lifelong memories she made while exploring the world. Maureen also enjoyed maintaining her beautiful garden and was an active member of the Genealogical Society of Cape Cod. Of all of her interests and hobbies, her true joy in life was her family; she was a beloved wife, mother, and of course, ‘grandma’.
Maureen is reunited with her husband, the late Thomas R. Quinn, who died January 4, 1991, and her brother, the late John Cremin.
She leaves her sons, James M. Quinn (Barbara) of Marlborough, and Robert T. Quinn (Kristine) of Upton; and her grandchildren, Thomas Quinn, Julie Quinn, Jennifer Quinn (Alexander Begin), and Avery Quinn.
Family and friends will honor and remember Maureen’s life by gathering to visit on Saturday, April 8th from 10 to 11 a.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery in West Roxbury.
