Waltham – Mrs. Mary Clarina (Mitchell) Casey, of Waltham, died Saturday, December 5, 2015 in her home. She was 99.
Mary was born in Newton on May 27, 1916, a daughter of the late Thomas F. and Amanda C. (Morrell) Mitchell and moved to Waltham sixty-four years ago.
Prior to her marriage she worked at the Raytheon Company for eighteen years and after the birth of her children become a stay at home Mom . . . and a good one at that. For years she helped out with elections in Waltham and eventually became the election warden at the Jonathan Bright School. She and her family were also longtime parishioners at Saint Jude Church.
The wife of the late Robert J. Casey, she leaves her daughters, Maureen F. Connelly and Patricia M. Casey, both of Waltham and her nephew and niece, Wayne Mitchell and Susan Mitchell Achilla.
She was also the mother-in-law of the late William M. Connelly; sister of the late Rev. Francis T. Mitchell, OMI and Joseph Edward Mitchell and aunt of the late Kenneth Mitchell.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mary's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, December 9th from 3 to 7 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Committal services will be held in Calvary Cemetery Chapel, Waltham.
