Encinitas, Calif. – Mrs. Mary J. (Murphy) Clancy, of Encinitas, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015 in Somerford Place of Encinitas. She was 91.
Mary was born in Boston on June 15, 1924, a daughter of the late Patrick and Winifred (Gannon) Murphy. Until her retirement she worked for thirty years as a clerk for the Newton District Court. Mary had lived in Waltham for most of her life before moving to California five years ago.
Her husband of fifty-one years, Thomas F. Clancy, died in 2000.
Mary leaves her son, Michael F. Clancy and his wife, Kim, of Encinitas, California and her grandchildren, Alexander and Jenna Clancy.
She was a sister of the late Barbara Gillis, Sr. Mary Celestine, C.S.J. and John Murphy.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mary's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, July 22nd from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Mary Immaculate of Lourdes Church, 270 Elliot Street, Newton, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
