Winchester – Mrs. Mary N. (Sarney) Cotterly, of Winchester, formerly of Waltham, died Sunday, June 5, 2016, in her home. She was 89.
Mary was born in Newport, Rhode Island, on April 8, 1927, a daughter of the late Ralph Sarney and Angeline (Palmieri) (Sarney) Andre.
She lived in Waltham and in Wakefield before moving to Winchester in 2014 to live with her daughter, Nancy M. Fraser, and her husband, Robert.
While living in Waltham, she was a longtime parishioner of Saint Charles Borromeo Church.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Harold F. "Shorty" Cotterly.
In addition to her daughter and son-in-law, she leaves her children, Harold F. "Butch" Cotterly, Jr. of Wareham, Kevin P. Cotterly and his wife, Carol, of Penacook, New Hampshire and Brian Scott Cotterly and his wife, Diane of Shrewsbury; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one niece; one nephew, and many cousins.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mary's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, June 8th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
