Marshfield – Mrs. Mary L. (Leonard) Courtney, of Marshfield, formerly of Waltham, died on Wednesday November 16, 2016 at home with her family by her side after a courageous fight with cancer.
Mary was born the daughter of the late Francis and Carmella Leonard in Waltham on February 11, 1945. She graduated from Waltham High School and worked for ADP in Waltham for over twenty years before retiring to start Courtney's Food & Spirits in Marshfield. Mary was a wonderful wife and mother and adored doting over her nine grandchildren.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Bruce A. Courtney; her children Bruce Courtney and his fiancée, Caroline Tanner, of Washington D.C., Brian Courtney and his wife, Sumiko, of Sewickley, PA, Karen 'KK' Rumrill and her husband, David, of Natick, and Scott Courtney and his wife Sue, of Marshfield; her grandchildren, Dorottya, Cooper, Lily, Kai, Charlie, Max, Rin, Abby and Katie; her siblings, Katherine Beninati and her husband, John, of Waltham, Ruth Ledoux of Marshfield, Barbara Yobaccio of South Yarmouth MA, and the late Henry Leonard and Patricia McLaughlin. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mary's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, November 20th from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and again at 9:00 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Feake Cemetery Waltham.
