Waltham – Mrs. Mary A. (Hart) Daly, of Waltham, died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the Stanley R. Tippett Home in Needham. She was 92. Mary was born in Waltham on April 20, 1917, a daughter of the late Thomas and Sabina (Kelly) Hart, and had been a lifelong resident. She graduated from Saint Mary's High School in Waltham in 1935 and from Boston College in 1947. Until her retirement she was a traveling drama teacher for various Catholic organizations in Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York and in Rhode Island. To raise funds for Waltham Hospital she initiated its lobby art gallery and was its coordinator for many years. She was also a longtime volunteer at the hospital's thrift shop. Mary belonged to the Garden Club, the Camera Club, the Rose Club and the Historical Society; all Waltham organizations. The wife of the late Walter J. Daly and sister of the late Sabina E. Lane, she leaves lifetime dear friends, Noreen Maher of Sarasota, Florida and James Bentley of Concord and their families. Family and friends will honor and remember Mary's life by gathering in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
