Mary C. (Cassidy) DiMaggio

Mrs. Mary C. (Cassidy) DiMaggio, of Waltham, died Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at her home.  She was 97.

Mary was a daughter of the late Patrick and Mary (Boyle) Cassidy and had been a lifelong Arlington resident before her marriage to Carmelo A. DiMaggio in 1950.  Shortly thereafter the couple moved to Waltham where they raised their family.

She had been a volunteer for the March of Dimes and for the Meals on Wheels program in Waltham. An avid golfer, she was a member of Nawshawtuc Country Club in Concord and following a move to West Palm Beach, Florida in retirement, a member of Bear Lake Country Club where she achieved a hole-in-one.

Mary and Carmelo also enjoyed traveling, especially to Bermuda, where they often visited more than once a year.  She also loved visiting the homeland of her parents, Ireland.

At home she kept a meticulous garden and had a passion for shopping.  She was always a faithful follower of all of her grandchildren’s endeavors in sports, theatre or at school and hardly ever missed a Waltham High hockey game.

The wife of the late Carmelo A. DiMaggio, she leaves her children, Ken DiMaggio (Joy) of Sudbury, Len DiMaggio (Maria) and Brenda Maguire (John), all of Waltham; her grandchildren, Andrea Irving (RJ), Michael DiMaggio (Jenna), Mary and Robert DiMaggio and Christopher and Brianna Maguire and her great-grandchildren, Haley and Luke Irving and Nicholas and Peter DiMaggio.

She was also the sister of the late Margaret Hunt.

Funeral services for Mary will be private.
