Waltham – Mrs. Mary R. (Reid) Dinger, of Waltham, died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Meadow Green Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 81.
Mary was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 20, 1929, a daughter of the late Thomas and Gladys (Stevens) Reid. She lived in Brooklyn before moving to the Boston area in 1997. She received her masters degree from Fordham University and her undergraduate degree from Barnard College, Class of 1950. She enjoyed being a homemaker and loved to travel.
Mary was the wife of the late Henry Charles Dinger, Jr. and leaves her sons Henry C. Dinger and his wife, Gail Garinger, of Newton, and Thomas E. Dinger and his wife, Lynne, of Waltham; her sister, Margaret D. Dervin of Spring Lake Heights, New Jersey and her grandchildren, Lauren, Michael and Matthew Dinger.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mary’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington Street, Newton where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia at a later date.
