Waltham – Mrs. Mary T. (Beaton) DiRico, of Waltham, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in her home. She was 54.
Mary was born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on June 12, 1956, a daughter of Theresa (Campbell) (Beaton) Mooney of Waltham and the late Donald Beaton.
She moved to Watertown as a child and graduated from Watertown High School in 1974 and from Aquinas Junior College in Newton two years later. After a five year courtship she married her beloved husband, Silvio DiRico, on June 3, 1978. They moved to Waltham in 1987.
Mary had worked in the administrative offices at Waltham High School. She loved her family, friends, reading, helping others, laughing, travelling, cooking, dressing up, her TV shows, dancing, music, and relaxing at the beach. Mary was a parishioner of Saint Jude Church and had been a member of the Canadian American Club of Watertown. She also participated in Sunday brunches with her cancer support group as well as several dinner groups.
In addition to her husband and her mother, Mary leaves her sons, Donald A. DiRico, Joseph T. DiRico and Ryan T. DiRico, all of Waltham; her step-father, Mervin Mooney of Waltham; her brother, John Beaton of Plainville; her sister, Joanne Burdick of Milford; her uncle and aunt, J. Donald Campbell of Waltham and Katherine Ann Hawley of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mary’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, September 26th, from 3 to 7 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
