Waltham – Mrs. Mary Jane (Hayward) DiStasio, of Waltham, died Thursday, August 19, 2010 in the Dorothy Frances Home in Waltham. She was 80.
Mary Jane was born in Milton on September 5, 1929 a daughter of the late Edward C. and Margaret I. (Maynard) Hayward and had been a Waltham resident since 1955. She was a graduate of Oliver Ames High School in Easton and The Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School.
She worked as an executive secretary for Kindercare in Waltham before retiring. In her spare time she enjoyed arts and crafts and was an avid sports enthusiast.
The wife of the late Carmelo DiStasio, she leaves her children, Michael DiStasio and his wife Elizabeth (Kantowski), and Matthew DiStasio and his fiancée, Melissa Morse, all of Acton, and Mark DiStasio and his wife, Suzanne (Logue), of Waltham; her grandchildren, Christine, Jennifer, Joseph, Brett, and Sydney and her brother, David Hayward and his wife, Pat, of Woolwich, Maine.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mary Jane’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
