Waltham - Mrs. Mary Jean (Richardson) Fitzgerald of Waltham died Wednesday January 19, 2005 in Epoch Senior Healthcare Center in Weston. She was 78. Born in Concord, Vermont a daughter of the late Ira and Cora (Bangs) Richardson, she was a Licensed Practical Nurse, specializing in geriatric care, and had been a charge nurse at Hopkins Nursing Home in Waltham for many years. Mary Jean was raised and educated in New Hampshire and had been a resident of Waltham for the past 53 years. She was a 1944 graduate of Lebanon High School, and a 1977 graduate of Waltham Vocational Nursing School. She was also very active with the Waltham Boys and Girls Club, the Senior Swim Group and Tai Chai Classes. She was also a frequent visitor to the Waltham Public Library, and enjoyed knitting and reading. She was the sister of the late Norton Richardson and his wife Norma, Ira 'Bud' Richardson, Thomas Richardson and Paul Richardson. She is survived by her children, James W. Flanders of Nashua, NH, Frank Fitzgerald and his wife Jennifer, and Susan J. Westover and her husband Maurice, all of Waltham; three sisters, Ellen Andrews and Corrine Pelletier and her husband Edward all of Vermont, Irene Ackerson and her husband Chip of Lebanon, New Hampshire; one sister-in-law, Greta Richardson of Waltham; her grandchildren, Shawn Flanders, Melissa Curley and her husband Mike, all of New Hampshire, Matthew Westover, AnnMarie Fitzgerald, April Fitzgerald, and Allison Fitzgerald all of Waltham; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, January 22nd at 11:30 a.m. in Mt. Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
