Mrs. Mary F. “Franny” Haley, of Watertown, died Sunday, November 3rd in Mount Auburn Hospital. She celebrated her 101st birthday this past September.
Franny was born in Medford on September 24, 1923, the daughter of the late Cornelius and Mary (Donohue) Odiorne. A graduate of Medford High School she worked at John Hancock Life Insurance Company before becoming a teller at various local banks in Waltham and Watertown.
Outside of work she was a talented sewer and knitter. Franny impressed friends and family with her creations including clothes and other goods. In her younger years she also enjoyed traveling to new places with her husband, Walter.
In addition to her husband, the late Walter X. Haley, she was predeceased by her brother, Thomas C. Odiorne.
She was the sister-in-law of Mary Ann Odiorne of Waltham; aunt of Anne M. Anidiobu (Mamel) of Framingham and Daniel P. Odiorne of Tampa, Florida; and great aunt of Marley, Vivienne, and Aubrey Anidiobu.
Family and friends will honor and remember Franny’s life by gathering in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, where her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 8th at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Paul’s Cemetery, Arlington.
