The pair married on May 26, 1951 and settled in Hyde Park where they would raise their three children. For a number of years she had worked as a teacher's aide in the Boston Public School System.
She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, to know Marie was to love her. She was extremely outgoing and was known to have thirty-five 'best friends'. At home she was as a true disciplinarian, always looking out for the best interest of her son and daughters. In recent years she was happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly referred to her as Nana Rere.
