Waltham – Mrs. Mary T. (Heslin) Haughney, of Waltham, died on Friday, June 24, 2016 in her home. She was 91.
Mary was born in Albany, New York on July 18, 1924, the daughter of the late William and Theresa (Cavanaugh) Heslin. She was raised and educated in Cohoes, New York.
Following her marriage to James V. Haughney, a career Army officer, the family moved around the country and saw the world. They spent time living in the Philippines, Switzerland, Turkey and in Thailand. Mary and Jim retired to Ayer and following her husband's death Mary moved to Waltham.
She leaves her children, Kenneth J. Haughney and his wife, Kathy, of Shawnee, Kansas, and Gary V. Haughney and his wife, Donna, of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico; her grandchildren, Jon Haughney, Jennifer Beyer, Cara and Alex Haughney and Brett and Ryan Sawin; her great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Tyler, Andrew and Caleb Beyer and Liam Haughney and her son-in-law, Keith A. Sawin and his fiancé, Roberta Leger, of Waltham.
She was also the mother of the late Susan C. Sawin.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mary's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, June 27th, from 6 to 8 p.m. Committal services will be held on Tuesday at 10:45 a.m. in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
